Who We Are

The 91st Sojourners was started in 2015 to provide youth in Kingston and the surrounding communities an opportunity to engage in inclusive scouting and service opportunities. Since then we have welcomed hundreds of youth and their families into our community.

Who Are We: The 91st Sojourners is named after local abolitionist and women’s rights activist, Sojourner Truth. Truth’s commitment to end slavery and persevere through seemingly insurmountable obstacles, serves as an inspiration for our youth and rovers.

Our scouting is grounded in the the work of the Baden-Powell family, out of whose commitment to guide youth to develop honest character, commitment to community and self-reliance, came the modern day scouting movement.

What Do We Do: Our scouts meet outdoors all year round. From May - October we meet two evenings a month and from November - April we meet one weekend afternoon a month. In addition, our scouts participate in excursions such as hikes, service and camping. Youth are broken into four sections: Otters (5-7), Timberwolves (8 - 10), Pathfinders (11-16) and Chipmunks (2-4, must have a sibling who is a scout). In addition, our Rovers (leaders) are scouts too!

We are part of a national scouting and service organization…
